November $50 Winner
“Fund My Future PGH is a good way to show your children the value of saving money”
Michelle and her husband Richard are one of the October Fund My Future PGH $50 winners. About three years ago, they learned about Fund My Future PGH at the Pittsburgh Saves event held at the Human Services Center in Turtle Creek. After picking up his daughters from the afterschool program, Richard stopped by to learn about resources for saving. The girls already had savings accounts and were happy to pick up some of the giveaways.
Michelle and Richard recall winning last year, but they were unable to claim their full prize because they hadn’t made a deposit. (They responded to the email from Toni Corinealdi, filled out a simple form, and received a consolation prize.) They have not missed a month since then!
Michelle and Richard started saving for their daughters when they were one and two years old. Now the girls are ten and eleven and are still saving. Richard recalls that growing up, he didn’t have the opportunity to save because money was very scarce. Richard and Michelle are proud parents who feel good knowing their daughters both have something to give them a jump start in life. The winnings will be split between both daughters.
